Hands-down, my Fein multi tool. Undercut casings. Cut in flush-mount vents. Repair boards. Sixteen years ago we were using jamb saws or hand saws to undercut jambs and circular saws to cut in flush mounts, then having to chisel the corners out.

My dust mask and dustless system. I can sand between 800 and 900 feet without emptying a bag. Talk about shaving time.

Scraper. You can prep the whole floor with this one tool. You would never want to, but it can be done.

I actually love my Makita 18V blower. It's strong enough to blow dust out of machines but not so strong you can't use it inside. It's my most-used tool in my trailer.

My phone and Facebook. With it, I can find the answer to any problem I may run into. I don't know how I survived without Facebook groups in the past.
Jim Hyde
Headphones and music to drown out the noises in my head while sanding.
Jeremy Waldorf
My camera phone, to document everything: moisture testing, RH, installation and finished product—time stamps and all.

All ten fingers.

I do not know how I went by for 23 years without Vecturo from Festool.

My Bosch concrete grinder attached to my Fein vacuum. It sounds silly, but that thing is awesome for prep work. Eats it all … nail heads, drywall, buckled subfloor. Love it! Many hours saved from that little guy. I prepped out about 500 feet the other day in probably 30 minutes. You can feel how the floor is, too, while you prep, so you know if there are any humps or drops. Bosch grinder + Fein vacuum = $$$ and time saved.

Common sense.

It has to be the Racatac. It has added at least 10 years to my hands- on career.

My Pro Knee knee pads, cause flooring is definitely hard on the knees after 18 years.
Stewart Bancroft
Word of mouth recommendations and a good reputation.

Utility knife. This is just the tool I use every day no matter what. You can cut open bundles, knife-cut a precise line into the floor for dropping in a vent or electrical outlet, open boxes, sharpen pencils, remove something that got stuck in the finish coat and many more, including opening a beer when I get home.
