A Trailer-Home Treat

Wayne Lee Headshot

You learn something new every day...

Working in a double-wide home can be a task; the walls are ¼ ply with wall paper-no door case, no trim, no way to wall jack and just a real "low-cost" treat. I know that they are great for folks to own and it allows many a home they could never have otherwise, but it was very hard to install flooring. We added shoe mold to the job so that the look would be right and we could leave ½-inch around the walls. Now it looks great, but it hard to do; there was nothing to nail the shoe to other than the stud 24 on center and the flooring itself.

This was my first time working in a trailer home, so it was a learning moment and I will be better at it next time, but I've got to say that it looks great. The homeowner likes the extra trim and our skills for sanding far better than the last crew that did the job. We had planned on a full week of work on this job, but truth be told, we wore it out and are done today.

Now I have no reason not to do a few honey-do things around the house...now what? "Honey, I was too busy doing nothing all day"? So the list is the best thing to do. I will start on the deck and some repairs needed from a storm, then see what comes next.
