Don't Take Money from God

Wayne Lee Headshot

It is a slow week, plus a run of bad luck.

Joey had his truck in for service and he found out that someone put sand in his radiator. They also keyed his paint job and just made a mess of his truck. Who did he make mad? Still, that is an evil person to do that. He has to have a new engine because it ran into every port in the block; he is not happy. He has a work truck also that they did the same thing to, so both his rides are in need of new engines... Thank God he has insurance for one of them. They are going to put in a new engine, but the other truck will have to sit.

I did a late-night estimate on a church that has been repaired three times over the years and not one did it right. The main beams have no support; they put blocks under the beams but did not add the concrete pad to support the blocks. The weight of this old church has pressed the blocks into the earth, so they are doing nothing other than making the floor fall...one inch into the mud at this point.

I am doing an estimate for the complete job-I mean from the ground up to the new tile laid once we fix the real trouble. They did not put down plastic or support the beams, and they used rocks to hold up the flooring. Overall, they just took someone's money. The sad part is this is the second time the same thing happened to the church; they trusted the folks doing the work and, well, someone is going to pay for the poor work in the long run if you know what I mean... Do not take money from God, is all I can say.

I got a comment about the lead certification course. Thank you, sir, for the heads-up; I was not aware we had to take notes and pass a written test. This will be fun; I think the last time I took a test was for my NWFA Install/Sand & Finish certification. I do not recall the hands-on part, but boy do I hate written tests... The whole idea just makes me nervous as a cat at a dog show. Thank you again, you have prepared my mind and yes, I will take good notes!

Well, today is an install of a marble shower (I call them rain lockers) but it should go smooth because we have done a ton of prep for the walls. There is new drywall, a new pan, moved the drain, reset the pipe for the toilet, installed floor tile and had the painters-all but the final coat. The trouble is it is a small room and the rain locker takes up half the room and the marble is full size; we will have to be very careful with the marble and the walls.

I have an update on two wonderful blessings: Rebeka is doing great, just sore at this point, and many of you know my sister has been in a battle with breast cancer. She is now cancer-free for 3 years! All of her tests came back on this last checkup and we are all thanking God for the GREAT report. If you ever can support breast awareness, please do so; she is living proof that research works. Pink is good.

Well, if I do not get to post any more this week, from all of us at Cardinal Hardwood, we wish each and everyone a Merry Christmas and a money-making new year!

God bless you all, and thank you for reading the blog...It is a treat to have been asked to do this.
