I do not know what words to use or how to express how much we all will miss Mr. Jim at Galaxy Floor Machines. He was a good friend and a man that I looked up to in the machine world. God bless his family; my prayers will be lifted up for them. (To read the article about Jim Tasikas, click here.)
Today was one of...not much to talk about. I ran around getting supplies for the jobs. We are going to start an install this week, drop in 10 vents for Mrs. Rhonda, replace 8 boards on a damaged floor for Mrs. Todd and keep things going as smooth as we can.
I am not sure about the install because the maple needs to be stained, and I know it will need washer rows because this summer will bring us high RH and it is on a crawl space. Our best math is a washer row every 10 boards so when it grows-and it will-we should not have any trouble. The stain will be hard because the maple needs to be light brown with some red to add a little tone. That is per the home owner; we do not want to go nuts trying to pick a stain, so we will do a few samples long before the install is done.
The vents do not worry me, in fact I am looking forward to that task. It should be a fun job other than the mess and clean up. For Mrs. Todd I have to remove some bad boards in a floor that has been installed for 3-4 years, my only concern is getting them looking right and flat.
I will say our super-cold winter and snow is getting old real fast, and it is making for a long winter.
That is my week, but the key is to find time to enjoy it. Life is short, so enjoy your family and make sure you tell them you love them.
