Well in the last two days we moved out a boatload of furniture from a 500-square-foot room, removed the carpet, tack strips that were double-wide (two rolls nailed down side by side), cut plywood for a new floating subfloor and installed flooring. Oh yes, and did the base & quarter-round. We had to cut the back door to make it fit for the new height of the flooring; that was a pain because it was a 50-year-old home with a glass door as big as any door I have seen in awhile. The floor looks great and the floating floor is as flat as any floor we have installed. Funny how the we can lay ¾ ply over plastic and use a 1½-inch cleat, and it lays down like a rug. We kerf-cut the back of the ply crown up, and it just looks great.
I got a comment on my post about the estimate and folks dropping the price so low they cannot make money. Well, I think she is right about needing to ask if folks are looking for the lowest price so I know if they will just waste my time. I need to learn more about that skill; qualifying the calls could save a ton of time. Please help me learn more about phone calls and ways to prevent wasting time with price-point folks who just want to shop. I would enjoy getting more input on this skill!
