My Resolution for 2011

Wayne Lee Headshot

Monday is fun day...not! We were taking up carpet and tack strips from a basement concrete floor so we can install cork flooring; it is just that carpet is so nasty. We found some water damage, and termites have destroyed the wall line, so now we get to repair that also. It is odd how they can find a home in block walls and poured flooring and then work into the wood studs. We got it treated so we can move forward with our work today.

The next big hurdle is the pool table, this thing is 9 foot long and the heaviest one I have ever seen. We have a guy coming in today to get it moved out because it is such a sweet table-I do not want to take the blame for it if it got hurt. The guy said he can take it out in one unit... we looked for screws to take it apart, but truth be told we had no idea where they were. My back will thank me at the end of the day.

Today we want to start the prep for the tile, we have to patch the holes and cracks in the floor so we can grind it all flat; should be an easy day of just running the buffer. This carpeting has been down for 20 years; the nasty dirt and whatever gets deep into the padding just makes me nuts. How can folks put that junk in the home? Carpet is nasty.

I hope that today will be okay health-wise. I had to start taking shots for my sugar Monday and with that comes the worry of getting my counts too low too fast. I have been very lucky to take pills for six years, but they are not doing the thing they do anymore, so hello, shots in the belly. The pain is I do not eat bad but bad enough; it is not working. So it's a great time for a New Year's life resolution: Eat right, drop 20 more pounds and see if the body will look and feel better in 2011. In 2010 it was 18 pounds; let me tell you that is hard. I love to eat the bad things in life: CARBS. Bread is my most wanted… Oh yeah, with a ton of hot butter. Just the smell can make you fat. Biggest Loser, here we come for 2011, with new hope and better health.
