New Use For a Yardstick

Wayne Lee Headshot

I have the job in Kentucky done; the funny thing came today when the homeowner asked me to repair the front door threshold; it was old and had some rotten boards. Well, it was not a big deal, and I think it took about an hour to demo and reinstall the door, plus install a new plate. The funny thing: As I was doing the demo, it was odd that the wood just came apart in my hands. I keep looking and asking myself, "What is the deal?" Turns out it was old yard sticks laid one on top of the other ... yard sticks! I wonder how long they lasted? The nice thing was I did not have to use my tape to get a nice reading to see how long to make the new threshold.

I showed the homeowner and they had no idea it was like that, in fact they think the carpet installer did it about 10 years ago. It had a name on it, but it was too worn to read the back side of the stick.  The job looks great and they just could not say thanks enough.
