This was the floor where I had to match the old poly with the new poly.
It was not as easy as it looked; it was a pain because the wood was darker than the old flooring. The plan was sand it super-fine to close the grain and, with some luck, the poly would not pop the wood and make it look new.
I went with tint and universal sealer to make it look close, but now I need to match the shine or lack of shine in the poly-that will be the hard part.
The builder is coming back to look at the flooring installed with the pin nail gun. He said his guys would not do that buuuuuuuut … after talking to his crew, they told him they ran out of nails and just did what was easy. So now the thing is: Will he pay to have it removed and have new installed? I am going to leave Joey alone on this; he is the lead guy, so it's time to lead. He is ready to handle it; in fact, he will handle it like a pro.
I am going to start the next water damage job Monday. It's American cherry in the bedroom and a demo of the bathroom, where we need to install new subfloor and new tile. Like I said, lately we seem to be the water damage team.
