Vac and Tack, Vac and Tack...

Wayne Lee Headshot

Sorry, folks, that I did not write anything yesterday. It was a fast pace of make sure we got things ready to be done today; seems like we just had to keep pushing and pushing. Ever have a day when you know you are working hard but it just seems like you are getting nowhere? Well, we had that day yesterday. By the time I got home my mind was spent; well it just was one of those days and that is why I did not feel up to writing a word once I got home. As a team we made sure the job would be done today, and we did!

Today we got all the trim cut and installed room by room. As Joey cut to fit, Eathen would pin-nail the trim down, then I would come hand-rub the walls so that we could pad the floor just as fast as the trim was installed. Vacuum, tack, vacuum, tack, and then just for fun, vacuum and tack the floor. We did a wet-tack just to make sure we got all the stuff off the floor and as always we wet-tack one more time! The guys hate me when it is time to coat; I just want the best-looking floor we can get.  We take the doors off for sanding and install them back before the last coat. So, we did that and I wanted to make sure it was still clean… So, well, you know: we wet-tacked the floor one more time.?

We rolled the finish on and it looks great. The homeowner likes the work and said they already told three friends about us-now that is getting done right. Word of mouth is the best way to get more work.? ?Recall the job I told you about where we were the only one of three companies to call back to do an estimate? We are starting that job early. They have a party soon, so they asked us to see if we can make the house look good before the first of September. The winner is...Cardinal Hardwood. The only reason we can do it is because the job we had scheduled was moved back one week; we look good on both fronts. The homeowner gets the house done one week early and the builder thinks we are great for understanding his delay. Well just between us: We are not that good-just lucky!
