AkzoNobel Exhibits New Color Trends

AkzoNobel (High Point, N.C.) showcased updated color trends for wood coatings at the Spring 2018 High Point International Home Furnishings Market April 14-18.

Updated trend areas include Historically Modern, Reclamation, Pearl & Metallic and Opaque.

Historically Modern features dominant wood tones that mix contemporary looks with historically relevant pieces, according to the company. Reclamation trends include products that are “weathered, raw and organic that show imperfections in the wood.” Pearl & Metallic is a mixture of modern and transitional “that sparkle with a contemporary shimmer.” Opaque styles have two-tone looks that can also create a “dramatic contemporary style.”

The company’s studio artisans found that similar to the Fall 2017 market, two-tone finishing and gray colors remain popular.

“These trends influence many designs,” Color Trends Manager Robert Haley said in a statement. “Our job is to help our customers translate these trends into unique techniques, color and wood finishing processes that support their business objectives.”
