ASTM has revised its standard for ASTM F2170 "Standard Test Method for Determining Relative Humidity in Concrete Floor Slabs Using In Situ Probes," slashing the mandatory wait period from 72 hours to 24 hours.
Wagner Meters (Rogue River, Ore.), a moisture measurement solutions company for wood, issued a press release in support of the major reduction in the standard time, stating that studies showed readings at 24 hours were statistically equivalent to those of 72 hours.
"What's a game changer for flooring professionals is that with the revised F2170 standard, they can now take action after just one day instead of having to wait three days," said Wagner Meters Flooring Division Manager Jason Spangler in a statement.
