Single-family housing authorizations, along with existing housing maintenance and housing remodel volumes, declined year-over-year for the third consecutive month in January, according to a Housing Health Report by BuildFax.
Single-family housing authorizations fell 3.48 percent compared with January 2018, as existing-housing maintenance volume and existing-housing remodel volume declined by 6.47 percent and 10.85 percent, respectively.
January single-family housing authorizations increased 1.23 percent compared with December 2018 authorizations.
States with the steepest year-over-year declines in housing maintenance activity included Nevada (down 19.67 percent), Oregon (down 19.28 percent) and Florida (down 17.82 percent).
