Construction employment increased in 37 states in February compared with February 2018, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America.
Slowing its pace from previous months, only 16 states saw construction employment increase in February compared with January 2019.
“Although job growth remains widespread on a year-over-year basis, the combination of exceptionally bad weather and record low unemployment in many states stopped the growth of construction jobs at least temporarily in February,” AGC Chief Economist Ken Simonson said in a statement.
Thirteen states and D.C. had declines in construction employment in February compared with February 2018, and employment declined in 33 states and D.C. from January to February 2019.
