Seventy-four percent of U.S. metro areas had gains in construction employment between November 2017 and November 2018, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).
Out of the 358 metro areas, 45 had declines in construction employment and 48 were unchanged.
âConstruction employment growth remains widespread, but as unemployment hits historic lows in many metros, contractors are having ever-increasing difficulty filling positions,â AGC Chief Economist Ken Simonson said in a statement. âAs a result, construction employment may level off in more areas, even while the demand for projects and workers continues to be strong.â
