John “Jack” Hollinger III, a longtime executive at Mannington Mills (Salem, N.J.) before retiring in 1988, died Dec. 5 at the age of 95.
After joining the company in 1964 as a general sales manager, Hollinger worked at Mannington for 24 years, later serving as VP of sales and executive VP during his tenure.
“We all owe him a great deal of gratitude for his significant contributions during our company’s formative years,” Mannington stated in a press release. “We are all grateful for Jack’s friendship, his dedication to Mannington and his legacy of helping establish the modern multi-faceted company we are today.”
Before coming to Mannington, Hollinger, a native of Lancaster, Pa., served in the Army during World War II, where he earned two Purple Hearts. His flooring sales career began at Armstrong and he also worked for Dodge Cork Company prior to joining Mannington.
His son, Mark Hollinger, also worked at Mannington, serving as VP of National Accounts before his death in 2014.
A funeral service for Hollinger was held Dec. 12.
