For the first time in 13 years, the multi-purpose Pepsi Center in Denver had same-day home games for both its professional basketball team and hockey team, KDVR reports.
The Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets were scheduled to play within hours of each other on January 19, meaning the center’s flooring crew had 90 minutes or less to change the floors from ice to hardwood.
The changeover team practiced the procedure twice before the big day, Director of Conversion Matt Mennona told KDVR.
“It doesn’t happen very often,” Mennona said. "When I took this spot, it was one of the days I was actually looking forward to because a lot of the times the eyes are on the teams, and now it’s us.”

The conversion went off without a hitch, with time to spare before the basketball team took to the hardwood.
Mennona dubbed the tricky flooring changeover “organized chaos at its finest.”
