U.S. hardwood flooring imports surged 32% in March, reaching their highest level since May 2019, ITTO reports.
Hardwood flooring imports from Malaysia tripled, and imports from Indonesia more than doubled during the month. Year-over-year in March, hardwood flooring imports from Brazil increased 222%, “taking market share away from China and Indonesia,” ITTO stated.
Engineered wood flooring imports increased 23% in March, with engineered imports from Indonesia and Vietnam both increasing more than 60%.
Engineered flooring imports from Thailand increased more than 400%, but remain 11% below March 2020 imports year-over-year. Engineered imports from China dropped 49% in March, but were up 64% compared with March 2020.
