The S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller U.S. National Home Price Index reported a 5.8 percent annual gain in February, up from 5.6 percent in January, setting a 32-month high, according to the report.
The 10-City Composite in February gained 5.2 percent, up from 5 percent in January. The 20-City Composite posted an annual gain of 5.9 percent, up from 5.7 percent in January.
The highest annual gains were in Seattle, 12.2 percent; Portland, 9.7 percent; and Dallas, 8.8 percent.
Home prices posted a month-over-month gain of 0.4 percent in February, while the 10-City and 20-City Composites reported month-over-month increases of 0.6 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively.
“Housing and home prices continue to advance,” said David Blitzer, managing director and chairman of the Index Committee at S&P Dow Jones Indices, in a statement. “The S&P Corelogic Case-Shiller National Home Price Index and the two composite indices accelerated since the national index set a new high four months ago.”
