The Floor Education Guild will host a three-day course on kiln drying and wood grading Aug. 21–23 at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.
The course will cover the basics of lumber drying, air-drying, lumber handling, pre-dryer and kiln operation, schedules, conditioning and quality-control procedures. Participants will dry a charge of yellow poplar lumber and tour a commercial drying facility.
The course will be instructed by Brian Bond, a professor of sustainable biomaterials with Virginia Tech.
Registration can be completed online and costs $350.
