Schenck and Company (Houston), two-time NWFA Wood Floor of the Year award winners, recently took home an American Society of Interior Designers award for best use of flooring.

It is the fifth consecutive year Schenck has received the award.

The award, given by the Texas Gulf Coast chapter of ASID at its 40th annual Ruby Awards, was for a reclaimed white oak floor in widths up to 12 inches installed at a sprawling Texas ranch.

The floor, which proudly showed its aged and weather-worn character, was installed throughout the home in planks.

In the entryway is an end-grain block Versailles pattern, which Houston Design Resources described as “more Texas chic than French chateau.” The end grain was sliced from the same beams that are used structurally throughout the inside and outside of the home.

The floors were lightly sanded and finished with oil.

Schenck and Company previously won the 2013 WFOY award in the Reclaimed category and the 1998 WFOY award for Best Limited Species Design.
