Six Asian Countries Take Steps to Keep Out Illegal Wood

Six Asian countries over the past year have been working on import regulations to keep illegally logged wood out of their markets, according to Eco-Business.

The countries—Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia—represented nearly 40 percent all the global market share of wood imports in 2016, Eco-Business said.

The regulations include expectations of due diligence and checks, enforcement and penalties for non-compliance.
