Hello everyone. I'd like to know how effective advertising in Social media for that type of business? Do you use Facebook, Craiglist, Yelp and how effective it? Where do you get the main customers? Thanks

I tinkered with Facebook. Spent a few hundred bucks. I suppose if you work on it diligently and have something unique to offer and not the same repeated drab it could work. Craigslist? Tire kickers and bottom feeders looking for the best deal or price. Not my bag. Yelp? After hearing Scott Avery's comments about them I won't go near it. Thanks Scott :)

Reviews. Legitimate reviews is what works today. I can't say enough. Houzz has a very strong presence on the web today. And if you start collecting reviews Google favors them and your presence is usually front and center. Google is another good source for reviews if you have your business set up.

But naturally you have to get the word out about your company. Helps to have a decent web presence and ONCE again by offering something unique and not copying what others have.

My customers come from a variety of web pages I have. Pay per click is also something I work with, but ya gotta know how to make it work without sending money down the proverbial black hole. Most won't spend the time to see what works and what will not work. I should say most have no clue. I'm constantly making changes to see what does work better.

Thanks for your answer and advice. Also, what you can say about Angie's list and HomeAdvisor?

Can't help on that Nikita. Never used them. But you can actually search for a lot of discussions on the older Floormasters Message board.

A lot easier this way...better search

Go to Google, copy and paste the first section. Then add any search term after that

1st section---> site:https://www.woodfloorbusiness.com/floormasters

Search term----> Angies List

So it would look like this...

site:https://www.woodfloorbusiness.com/floormasters Angies List

There used to be a lot of activity on Bill's old board. But here it's slowed to a crawl. Naturally some guys in the past were a bit over the top with their own attitudes and there was very little moderation. However they did offer some great information.

We use social media a lot. We are on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google, Linked In, Etc. It is a full time job for me. Craigslist is fine if you have really low pricing. If you are a professional, you need to look into Home Advisor or Angie's List for leads. We are in Atlanta, which has way too many people who "do floors" and we need to establish ourselves as craftsmen. Social media helps us stand out from the crowd. Good Luck!

I would say you will have to test out a few things. I've talked to some people in trades and different areas and they have tried numerous things like Facebook Ads and Instagram but in other areas, they haven't been successful using those. I mean social media is big but some people still have success with newspapers.

The best thing you can do is create a budget and track what works and what doesn't but let it run for some time so you can see if there is any long term success.
