Mohawk Teams With BonaKemi For Refinishing Program Mohawk Industries (Dalton, Ga.) has introduced a turnkey hardwood floor refinishing business to its floor covering retail partners. This program, Mohawk FloorCare Essentials: Dust-Free Wood Refinishing, will incorporate BonaKemi USA (Aurora, Colo.) products exclusively. The program will feature a truck-mounted dust collection system. The truck also will contain a complete line of Bona's sanding equipment, abrasives, filler, stain, sealers and finishes.

Mohawk "Floorscapes and Color Center" retailers were offered the opportunity to commit to a protected market for the dust-free wood floor refinishing program. The initial offering, for 35 markets with 35 fully equipped trucks, sold out immediately. Mohawk expects to have 200 hardwood refinishing trucks in the market by the end of 2003. The company's three- to five-year goal is to have 1,000 units refinishing hardwood floors in North America. The first 35 trucks will be in place as of Feb. 1, 2003.

"Dust Free Wood Refinishing" dealers will be required to use only Bona products. Bona currently is compiling a list for Mohawk of Bona distributors that inventory the complete line of Bona machines, abrasives, fillers, stains, sealers and finishes. If some markets don't have the entire Bona product assortment, alternative supply sources may be required, according to Ron Peden, CEO, BonaKemi USA. To participate, Bona distributors must meet certain qualifications. For more information, contact Mark Weglowski or Ron Peden at 800/872-5515, or contact a Bona distributor business manager.
