The United States Department of Agriculture will host an informational webinar on Aug. 11 to assist those interested in commenting on the Hardwood Checkoff.
If the Hardwood Checkoff (officially called the Proposed Hardwood Lumber and Hardwood Plywood Promotion, Research and Information Order) is implemented, sawmills and kiln operators would be charged an assessment per $1,000 in sales. The amount assessed is based on the product sold and would go toward an industry-wide promotional campaign for American hardwoods, much like the checkoff-funded “Got Milk?” and “Pork: the Other White Meat” campaigns.
The agency is holding the webinar to address revisions that were published in the Federal Register on June 9.
The webinar will take place Aug. 11 at 2 p.m. EDT. Interested parties can register online.
