The Hickman family, stalwarts of the Pennsylvania wood products industry, were featured in “Icons of Pittsburgh,” a listing of 40 of the city’s “movers and shakers” by Maniac Magazine.
The family owns Emlenton, Pa.-based Allegheny Mountain Hardwood Flooring, Hickman Lumber Co. Inc. and Hickman Timber Management Co.
“For us, the Hickman family was an easy choice,” said Alyssa Andress in a statement. “Aside from being genuinely wonderful people, this family boasts four generations of hard workers who produce an astonishing product from start to finish.”
Icons of Pittsburgh are chosen after an “extensive amount of research is done,” Andress said. Other Icons included Pittsburgh-area doctors, builders, small business owners, consultants and brewers.
“I think it’s a pretty cool they recognized us as local icons,” said Jessica Hickman. “I’m really fortunate to be part of a family with such a unique business and history. I’m just doing my best to continue the legacy they’ve created.”
