‘Floor Sanders and Finishers’ Rank 15th in ‘50 Most Physical Jobs in America’

Ranking

“Floor sanders and finishers” ranked 15th in a list of the 50 Most Physical Jobs in America compiled by Stacker earlier this year.

The list was compiled using data from the Occupational Information Network developed for the U.S. Department of Labor. The jobs were ranked by the “importance of having stamina” on a scale of 0 to 100. Floor sanders and finishers were given an “importance of having stamina” rating of 56 out of 100.

“Floor sanders and finishers require stamina to complete their duties, which include controlling sanding machinery, removing and loading construction material, and stooping to inspect floors,” the report states.

The list also notes the profession has average earnings of $44,380, with an average of $21.34 hourly and a 2021 employment total of 6,000. Carpet installers ranked 31st on the list, but there was no clear category for wood floor installers.

The top three “most physical” professions on the list were dancers (#1), athletes and sports competitors (#2) and exercise trainers/group fitness instructors (#3).
