The U.S. saw a 23.8% surge in new home sales in June compared with June 2022, according to the U.S. Census Bureau and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Compared with May sales, however, June new home sales were down 2.5% at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 697,000.
Regionally, month-over-month, new home sales dropped 28.4% in the Midwest and 13.9% in the West. New home sales in the Northeast and South rose 20.6% and 4.3%, respectively.
The median sales price of new houses sold in June was $415,400, with an average sales price of $494,700.
