Reclaimed wood product manufacturer Pioneer Millworks received an Environmental Protection Agency grant to create “Environmental Product Declarations” for its products.
EPDs are documents that show a product's environmental impact. This includes the sourcing of materials, shipping the product, and what happens at the end of the product’s life.
“Being able to analyze and document the full life cycle of our products with full documentation will show clients the benefits of choosing an environmentally supportive material and manufactured for their spaces,” Pioneer Millworks Acquisitions & Environmental Certifications Manager Michele Caryl said in a statement.
Pioneer received $160 million, which will be used over five years to hire staff, develop a program and set measures for its products’ life-cycle analysis.
