The residential construction industry added 4,000 jobs from November to December, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Year-over-year, residential construction industry jobs increased by 1.5% or 51,000 jobs.

Meanwhile, the construction industry as a whole added 8,000 jobs in December and 196,000 jobs since December 2023.
“The December jobs data bode well for the broader economy but poorly for the construction industry,” ABC Chief Economist Anirban Basu said in a statement. “Nationwide employment increased for the 48th consecutive month in December, and it increased rapidly.”
