AHF Products (Mountville, Pa.) announced it is closing its manufacturing plant in Shanghai, China. It will now service all of its international customers out of its growing plant in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
The Shanghai plant was acquired when AHF purchased LM Flooring in the summer of 2019. The plant employed 175 workers and produced engineered flooring products for Canadian, European, Asian and Australian markets.
AHF said it made the decision to close the facility after a strategic review of the business.
“Decisions that impact the lives of our employees are never easy, and I’d personally like to thank the Shanghai team for its contributions to the business and our customers,” AHF President and CEO Brian Carson said in a statement. “We will work closely with them to support them throughout this transition, and several key leaders will be transferring to our Cambodia plant, further strengthening the team there.”
AHF stated that U.S. customers will continue to be serviced from the company’s Cambodian facility, where it has tripled its capacity over the past 12 months, with plans to double it through the first quarter of 2021.
“Our customers’ response to our new products out of Cambodia has been phenomenal, and we welcome aboard the additional personnel and expertise that will transition from China to Cambodia,” Carson added.
