Suncrest Supply Inc., a flooring products distributor based in South Florida, announced it will implement a 6% price increase on orders of flooring collections placed on or after Sept. 13. The increase will apply only to flooring collections, not accessories such as underlayments and glue, according to the company.
The price increase is a result of the increasing cost of raw materials and transportation, especially the increase in ocean freight rates, Suncrest Supply President Paul Clarke said in a statement.
Clarke also stated that some ocean freight companies are implementing weight limits on containers, reducing the amount of square footage Suncrest can transport.
“This limitation is substantial and is going to affect the whole industry, ultimately resulting in further increases,” Clarke stated. “These increases are approximately six to eight weeks out, but I wanted to let you know so that you can plan accordingly.”
Clarke added that the company is actively exploring alternative options to source material in order to try to limit price increases.
