The pandemic unleashed a flood of home improvement projects in the U.S., and some states have boomed with renovation activity more than others. Hearth, a financing company, ranked states by per-capita applications for interior design-related home improvement loans. According to the company’s data, the following states have racked up the highest number of home improvement projects, becoming “pandemic destination” states:

  5. Georgia
  6. Louisiana
  7. Colorado
  8. Mississippi
  9. Alabama
  10. West Virginia
  11. South Carolina
  12. Indiana
  13. Tennessee

  16. Nebraska
  17. North Carolina
  18. Delaware
  19. Connecticut
  20. Arizona

The two demographic groups initiating the highest number of home improvement projects are Generation X and Millennials, according to Hearth.
