Virginia Abrasives Now Offering Distributorship Opportunities

Virginia Abrasives (Petersburg, Va.) is offering distributorships across the U.S. for hardwood flooring.

The abrasives company, founded in 1971, began selling direct to contractors in certain markets approximately 15 years ago, while still working with distributorships. In 2019, the company was purchased by U.S.-based private equity firm Brookstone Partners. The new ownership is focused on building distribution partnerships across the U.S. and growing the existing distribution business.

“We are adding distribution to allow easier access and availability of our full line of products for our loyal customers. It’s a transitioning process,” Pro Flooring Channel Manager Brett Butler told WFB. “We’ve got excitement with new distribution opening up.”

Butler, a longtime manufacturer rep in the industry, previously worked with Bona and Lenmar before joining Virginia Abrasives in January. “Distributors who are re-establishing relationships with us are growing their sales because we are focusing on their needs,” he said.

New distributors will receive a complete line of flooring abrasives to work with all floor sanding equipment. The company offers complete manufacturing support, along with Virginia Abrasives’ sales information and history for their regions to know exactly what’s been sold in an effort “to enhance the inventories based on what products and quantities will support and grow this business,” Butler added. “The distributor doesn’t have to just guess.”

Virginia Abrasives will refer contractors, including current and new inquiries, to a distributor or distributors supporting and stocking the Virginia Abrasives line of products within the regions they cover.

“Our goal is to build and support distribution to have our products readily available and more convenient to our loyal customers on a daily basis,” Butler said.

For information about becoming a distributor, Butler can be reached via email or by phone at (713) 899-2229.
