NWFA Accepting Submissions for Floor of the Year Contest The NWFA is accepting submissions for the 2010 Wood Floor of the Year Contest. The awards will be presented March 24 in Washington, D.C., during its annual convention. Categories for this year's contest include: Best Residential, Best Commercial, Best Restoration, Best Reclaimed, Best Manufacturer Factory-Finished, Best Limited Species, Best CNC/Laser Cut, Best Extreme Makeover, Member's Choice and Designer's Choice. Entrants must complete an entry form, which can be found at http://alturl.com/uyy3. The submission deadline is Jan. 8, 2010.

Winners are recognized for their distinguished efforts in five areas of forest stewardship: public education, political involvement, promotion to private forestland owners, land management practices, and mill and business activities.

Mark Your Calendar The National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) is holding an Advanced Lumber Grading Course Dec. 3-5 at the Dongguan Houjie Xingye Timber & Plywood Market in Guangdong Province, China. The course will be taught by the NHLA's Chief Inspector and Inspector Training School Director Bob Sabistina. The course will provide insight on purchasing, regional differences of the same species and the right grade to select for finished goods.
