January single-family housing starts fell 1 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 413,000 from a revised December rate of 417,000 units, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. Yet, overall housing starts-including multi-family units-rose 14.6 percent to 596,000 units in January from a revised December rate of 520,000.
