EPA Seeks Feedback on Lead-Safe Work in Public & Commercial Buildings

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced it is seeking feedback from the public about a proposed rule to require contractors to follow certain "lead-safe" work practices when remodeling commercial and public buildings.

The proposed rule would require contractors to follow work practices already in effect under the agency's Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) rule for pre-1978 residential units. The public and interested stakeholders can weigh in on the proposed rule until April 1.

Background on the proposed rule can be found here. Comments can be submitted here.

The EPA will discuss the proposed rule during a public meeting on June 26, details for which will be published in the Federal Register this Spring. Previously, the EPA indicated it will take final action on this proposed rule in July 2015.
