The National Wooden Pallet and Container Association (NWPCA) recently named Brent McClendon president and CEO.
McClendon, who most recently served as executive vice president of the International Wood Products Association (IWPA), has 22 years of experience in the forest products industry and has worked in the private, public and non-profit sectors. McClendon has undergraduate degrees from North Carolina State University in Forestry and Agriculture Business Management and an MBA from George Mason University, and he is a Certified Association Executive.
At IWPA, McClendon led about 220 member companies and trade organizations engaged in importing and exporting hardwood and softwood in more than 30 nations. He also served as the group's spokesman, taking on issues such as the import tariffs.
"NWPCA is perfectly positioned for growth, with a strong array of business products and membership services that are enhanced with outstanding staff and a strong and committed volunteer leadership," McClendon said. "I'm honored and excited to help lead this association as we tackle the challenges ahead. The executive search committee and I immediately connected, as we're both focused on expanding business innovation and delivering exceptional customer service."
At NWPCA McClendon replaced Bruce Scholnick, who served as the group's president and CEO until he passed away in July.
