Don Finkell, who recently announced his retirement as CEO of Shaw Hardwood and Anderson Hardwood Floors at the end of this month, has now been unanimously elected chairman of the board of the Hardwood Federation, the lobbying group representing all sectors of the hardwood business.
"I'm honored my colleagues have put their faith in me, and I'm looking forward to carrying on the great work my predecessors have been doing," Finkell said in a release. "My main goal for the Federation is to broaden its base of support within the hardwood associations and their member companies."
Finkell noted that the key issues for the Hardwood Federation at this time include heightened government regulation, global competitiveness of the U.S. hardwood industry, and promoting American hardwood to the buying and specifying community.
The outgoing chairman is Brad Thompson, CEO of Columbia Forest Products.
