NWFA Members Recognized for Giving Back to Communities

2013 NWFA Expo - Community Service Award - John ChristophersonJohn Christopherson of Christopherson Wood Floors in Olympia, Wash., accepts the Community Service award from NWFA Chairman Rick Holden.

During the Awards Luncheon today at the NWFA Wood Flooring Expo in Dallas, the National Wood Flooring Association recognized member companies that earned a Community Service Award. They include:

  • Bona US (Aurora, Colo.), which supported multiple charitable causes in 2012 through its Bona Mission Fund and several other programs
  • C & R Flooring (Needham, Mass.), which provides flooring for the Room to Dream Foundation, creating healing environments for children with chronic illnesses
  • Christopherson Wood Floors (Olympia, Wash.), which donated materials and labor to install a unique wood floor in the local children's museum (read more about this project profiled in Hardwood Floors' February/March 2013 issue here).
  • Energyst Solutions Flooring Supply Specialists (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Foremost Custom Hardwood Floors (Stamford, Vt.); the companies teamed up to provide a wood floor for a Habitat for Humanity home
  • Oshkosh Designs (Winneconne, Wis.), which donated material to Habitat for Humanity
  • Goodwin Heart Pine (Micanopy, Fla.), which coordinated local businesses to support a grassroots community initiative to create healthier and greener holidays
  • Horizon Forest Products (Raleigh, N.C.), whose various locations supported many local charitable causes
  • Intermountain Wood Flooring (Meridian, Idaho), which worked with the nonprofit El Nino Foundation to donate flooring
  • Mirage Floors (St-Georges, Quebec), which donated flooring to a project that supports Operation Finally Home (for wounded veterans) and the Ronald McDonald House
  • Lumber Liquidators (Toano, Va.); through its "Lay it Forward" program, it supports Ronald McDonald Houses across the country
  • the Mr. Sandless franchisee in Aston, Pa., which donates a portion of every floor serviced to two children's organizations
  • the Mr. Sandless franchisee in Sarasota, Fla., which refinished the distressed heart pine floors in the oldest residence in Sarasota County for the Historical Society of Sarasota County
  • Vivid Hardwood Flooring (Genoa, Ohio), which donated all supplies for the restoration of a floor at a local shelter for the homeless and poor.
