Members of the National Wood Flooring Association who have pursued further wood flooring education and volunteered for the organization were recognized during the Awards Luncheon held at the NWFA Wood Flooring Expo on April 4.
Those receiving a Craftsman Degree (for individuals who have attained 25 credits for education, achievement and service, of which 15 must be in education) were: Keith Long, Thunderheart Flooring LLC; Jimmy Nguyen, Dan's Custom Hardwood Floor Inc.; Jeff Pope, Jeff Pope Inc.; Chris Zizza, C & R Flooring Inc.; and Darek Zukowski, Chicagoland Flooring.
The Master Craftsman Degree is given to Craftsman Degree holders who have attained an additional 25 credits, 15 of which are for achievement, and have attended or served as an instructor at an NWFA Advanced or Expert School and/or received an NWFA Floor of the Year Award. Kathleen Freeman of Absolute Coatings Inc., Gene Jarka of Powernail Company Inc. and Kjell Nymark of Nymark Custom Wood Floors earned this degree.
Avedis Duvenjian of Archetypal Imagery Corp. and Bob Humphreys of Majestic Wood Floors were recognized for receiving Advanced Master Craftsman Degrees (for those who attain another 25 credits).
Those receiving a Vanguard Degree (who have received 25 credits, 15 of which are for industry service or achievement) were: Johannes Boonstra, Akzo Nobel/Synteko; Al Carvalho, Max Hardwood Floors; Enos Farnsworth, High Performance Subfloors Inc.; Avi Hadad, Avi's Hardwood Floors Inc.; Dan Harrington, Galleher Hardwood Company; Wayne Highlander, Bona US; Tommy Maxwell, Maxwell Hardwood Flooring; Tim Moore, Moore & Neville Inc. Flooring Inspections; Josh Neuberger, UFloor Systems Inc.; and Joe Rocco, Artistic Floors by Design Inc.
Individuals recognized with an Ambassador Degree (Vanguard Degree recipients who have earned an additional 25 credits for serving the industry) at the show were: Scott Avery, Modern Tech Floors; Roger Barker, Fortifiber Building Systems; Andy Campbell, DNA Floor Surgeons Inc; Craig Dupra, Installers Warehouse Inc.; Barry Gork, ATOM Ventures LLC; Mike Kearns, Primatech Inc.; Mark Lamanno, Franklin International; Jamie Lupresto, Diamond Flooring; and Roy Reichow, National Wood Floor Consultants.
Finally, Drew Kern of Flooring Works received the Golden Mallet, an award that recognizes those who have recruited more than four members to the NWFA in one year. This is Kern's fourth Golden Mallet.
