Following a 10 percent price increase that went into effect June 1, Mohawk Industries' and its subsidiary Unilin announced a price increase between 5 and 7 percent on Mohawk, Columbia and Century hardwood flooring lines to go into effect Aug. 5. The company cites sustained raw material cost increases for the price hike.
"The cost of lumber continues to rise due to the demand for wood coupled with a slower supply response. This sustained increase in raw materials impacts all levels of our hardwood production," Jamie Byrne, senior vice president of Mohawk's hard surfaces division, said in a statement.
This announcement comes after Armstrong Floor Products N.A. said Thursday it would increase its prices by 5 to 7 percent on July 15, also due to high raw material costs.
