Fans Can Own Piece of Final Four Floor, Support Pediatric Cancer Research

Northwestern Mutual is raising money for the Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Ky., by selling off pieces of the 2013 Final Four floor from the University of Louisville's victory over Michigan in the NCAA national championship basketball game.

Northwestern Mutual bought the floor, for which Louisville had the right of first refusal. The university will get the center court logo, and the rest of the floor will be sold starting in the fall. Coach Rick Pitino will sign 1,000 pieces featuring a large Cardinals' national champions logo in the center and a smaller Atlanta Final Four logo in the right corner. These pieces will sell for $500, while some sizes will be available for less than $100. Last year, Northwestern Mutual helped raise $200,000 with a similar sale after the University of Kentucky's Final Four win.

All proceeds will go to the research conducted by Dr. Kenneth Lucas, the chief of pediatric hematology/oncology at Kosair, investigating the prevention of recurring cancer in children. Northwestern Mutual hopes to raise $250,000.

Both the Men's and Women's Final Four floors were Connor QuickLock Portable Court panels finished by Praters Inc.
