The WWF's Global Forest and Trade Network will broadcast an hour-long Wood Sourcing and the Russian Far East: Risks and Recommendations webinar Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 4 p.m. EST/1 p.m. PST. The webinar is intended to help U.S. businesses avoid risk under the Lacey Act from wood and wood products imported from Russia or China that may not have been procured or exported legally.
Speakers Brian Milakovsky, forest projects coordinator with WWF-Russia, and Linda Walker, manager of Global Forest and Trade Network-North America, will discuss the various types of illegal logging in the Russian far east, actions businesses can take to reduce risks associated with sourcing from these regions, and identify certification opportunities to assure products are responsibly sourced.
