Shaw Industries Inc. is partnering with the United Way of Northwest Georgia's Volunteer Center to offer two $5,000 scholarships for high school student-volunteers in memory of the Elbert Shaw, who passed away in January.
Shaw Industries Inc. is partnering with the United Way of Northwest Georgia's Volunteer Center to offer two $5,000 scholarships for high school student-volunteers in memory of the Elbert Shaw, who passed away in January.
Current high school juniors and seniors in Whitfield or Murray counties with at least 100 hours of volunteer service in 2013 are eligible for the scholarships.
"This scholarship program is a testament to Elbert Shaw, a man that freely gave of his time and resources to make a difference in the lives of others," said Vance Bell, CEO of Shaw Industries, in a statement. "Elbert embodied honesty, integrity and a passionate caring for others in his volunteer pursuits. I believe that Elbert would be proud to recognize motivated youths that are driven to create a better future through volunteerism."
