In this video from ABC News, a team of civilians rescues a worker from a burning fifth-floor apartment in New York City. ABC reports that the rescued man was refinishing the floors of the apartment when the room burst into flames:
This is the second fire caused by wood flooring work in the news in recent months. In August, a high school gym in a Milwaukee suburb suffered several hundred thousands of dollars of damage when the wood floor installers improperly stored oily rags. The rags combusted, destroying the recently installed wood gym floor and causing a large amount of smoke damage.
