Home Depot Sees 47.8% Increase in Earnings

The Home Depot reported $1.4 billion in net earnings for the third quarter, 47.8 percent above the $947 million in the same period of 2012. The company also saw $19.5 billion in sales for the quarter, 7.4 percent above 2012.

"Our third quarter results reflect the continuing improvement in the housing market and our solid operational performance," Frank Blake, chairman and CEO, said in a statement.

Looking forward, the company expects sales to be up 5.6 percent by the end of the year, and comparable store sales are expected to be up 7 percent for the year.
