Don Finkell Chooses Valspar Wood Coating for His American OEM Line

American OEM Wood Floors (Boca Raton, Fla.), a new private-label hardwood flooring business based at the state prison in Only, Tenn., began production last month and is using coatings from Valspar Wood.

American OEM owner Don Finkell and his manufacturing team have a 25-year relationship with Valspar, so the choice was natural, he said in a statement.

The American OEM operation is designed to produce 10,000 square feet of hardwood flooring each hour. It has the ability to switch out finish colors in less than 10 minutes, Valspar Global Technical Director Jim Hazen said in a statement.

"Our goal with American OEM was to evaluate and implement improvements that optimize production for maximum up-time, precision, and performance," he said. "This operation is geared for high-volume and high-style production and quick color change-outs on a variety of substrates and finishes."

American OEM launched last spring at the 2014 National Wood Flooring Association Wood Flooring Expo in Nashville, Tenn. The company is a response to Chinese domination of the private-label wood flooring market, he told Hardwood Floors in April.
