Three NWFA members contributed money to the Industry Advocates Fund in honor of the late Jack Coates, who was the owner of Golden State Flooring and a founding member of the NWFA.
National Wood Flooring Association member-company executives Chester Derr Jr. and Rick Holden of Derr Flooring (Willow Grove, Pa.) and Kevin Mullany of Benchmark Wood Floors Inc. (Albuquerque, N.M.) each contributed to the Industry Advocates Fund in recognition of the late Jack Coates.
Coates, who passed away in January, was the owner of Golden State Flooring and one of the founding fathers of the NWFA.
The contributions to the Industry Advocates Fund will support scholarships for NWFA members to attend NWFA training schools.
“The generosity and spirit of Jack Coates is reflected in these contributions that have been made on his behalf,” said Michael Martin, NWFA president and CEO, in a statement. “We greatly appreciate that Chet, Rick and Kevin not only are honoring a tremendous person who made such an impact in our association and the industry, but that they are helping pay forward opportunities to others through these scholarships for NWFA education.”
