Two National Wood Flooring Association training schools were held the week of May 18: Concrete Preparation and Intermediate Installation.
The Concrete Preparation school took place May 19–20 in Chicago and was hosted by the E.J. Welch Company.
Topics covered included concrete moisture testing, concrete as a substrate, grinding methods, self-levelers, sealers, primers, glue-down installation and floating floor installation, among others.
The school was led by NWFA Regional Instructor Kjell Nymark of Precision Hardwood Floor Services. The other instructors were Jason Spangler, Wagner Meters; Matt Thrane, Arboritec USA Ltd. and Gehl Flooring Supply Inc.; Don Jewel, Capri Cork; Paul Laurenzi, Delmhorst Instrument Co.; Tim Moore, Fortifiber Building Systems Group; Brian McCartt, Loba-Wakol LLC; Chad Bulen, Bostik Inc.; and Brian Quinn, E.J. Students learned job-site evaluation, installation techniques, safety, flooring repairs, border installation and medallion installation.
