Eugen Lägler GmbH, inventors of the industry-transforming Hummel belt sander, acquired Palo Duro Hardwoods Inc.
Palo Duro, based in Denver, has been the German company’s North American importer and sales agent since 1995. Palo Duro has distributed more than 18,000 of the 50,000 Hummels manufactured since Eugen Lägler invented the machine in 1969.
“This acquisition will solidify Palo Duro’s position in the marketplace,” said Palo Duro President Bruce Whisenhunt in a statement.
Both companies are known for the long-term relationships they develop with their suppliers, customers and employees, said Jeff Fairbanks, Palo Duro’s vice president.
“The new company will continue to reinforce and build on these relationships, as well as our outstanding customer service,” Fairbanks said. “Everyone involved is looking forward to our continued mutual success.”
Details about the acquisition were not disclosed.
